Our story

Founded by Jonathan Steffen in 2003, The Corporate Story is a specialist corporate communications consultancy. Our motto is 'Making your story work for you’. We exist to help you shape and communicate your story to powerful effect.

The inspiration behind our company was a project in which Jonathan Steffen and his team were asked to conduct a global survey of employee attitudes to a new corporate strategy in 1999. Rather than engaging with the new strategy, however, interviewees recounted stories from the company’s past.

It became clear that the interviewees’ commitment to their employer was based on the defining experiences that had shaped the company in years gone by: the company’s foundation, its early struggles to establish itself, and its subsequent successes in the face of fierce competition.

More than this, it was obvious that the employees interviewed could not envisage a new future for their company unless that future was anchored in the past – in their own collective story.

It was this realisation that in due course gave our company its name, The Corporate Story. It also gave us our mission, which is to help clients use their unique stories to determine their future direction.

Since its founding, The Corporate Story has grown into a seven-strong team of professional staff with experience of doing business in Europe, the US and Asia. Our broad palette of skills allows us to combine our strong client focus with outstanding corporate communications expertise.
